The DIM and WEB classes travelled to South Plains College last Thursday to IDIGI Fest. Prior to the festival, they sent in projects with hopes of medaling in their respective areas. In the Web Design category, there were three gold medal participants, and three silver medalists. In the Digital Art section, nine Wolverines took gold medals, three earned silver medals and there were three bronze medalists.

“South Plains College puts on a competition each year for surrounding area schools,” WEB/DIM sponsor Joyce Bills stated. “It is the competition of digital imaging, web page design, photography, and shirt design.”

Senior Timothy Tanaro was a gold medalist with his pickup watercolor design and enjoyed the festival.

“We all sent in our own projects that we did,” Tanaro mentioned. “Everyone medaled and I got gold on mine which I was quite surprised.”

DIM gold medalists were senior Kimberly Cruz, freshman Reagan Ethridge, Rylie Furr, Abi Perez, Diego Lopez and Jaritza Sotelo, sophomore Angelina Tovar and junior Rosie Hernandez.

“It was fun, we went through many stations,” Tanaro said. “They showed us how print t-shirts. They showed us video games and how they make them and all the time they put into them.”

WEB gold medalists were senior Katy Jones and Timber Burleson and sophomore Isaiah Tovar.

“We also got to see the many creations they make,” Tanaro added. “We could scan a QR code off of the wall to see all of the creations they make whether it was with photoshop or illustrator.”

WEB Design silver medalists were seniors Amerie Medina and Jesse Gill and junior Cain Tovar.

“The IDIGI Fest was fun and cool,” senior Kimberly Cruz said. “I enjoyed it.”

Silver DIM medalists were freshmen Kinze Henson and Caleb Samaron and sophomore Braden Bradley. Freshman Aubrey Reese, sophomore Jahira Alvarez, and junior Alex Alvarez took home bronze medalists for their projects.

“I gold medaled with my project,” Cruz added. “It isn’t very common for all of us to get a medal, so that was neat, I was happy for everyone.”
