Following up Springlake-Earth’s 45-point win over the Petersburg Buffalos, the Wolverines had another 45-point lead. On Friday, the Wolverines faced the Kress Kangaroos at the kangaroo stadium. Springlake-Earth was picked to win by a couple points with no doubt, but it was not expected to be by an entire six touchdowns. Friday night, the Wolverines had an amazing performance leading them to victory and claiming the district champion title.

Junior Alejandro Gonzales is the fullback for the Mighty Wolverines. In the first quarter, Gonzalez was a big help to the team, leading them to finish off the first quarter with an upper hand and a score of 16-14.

“Everyone I hit fell to the ground. They just couldn’t get past me,” Gonzales said. “Every time I did that, I helped my team score a touchdown.”

After the first quarter, the Kangaroos could not keep up with the Wolverines or get passed them. With a successful first half of the game, green had the lead with a promising score of 50-34.

“Watching from the sidelines is always fun, but I wish I could still be playing with my primos,” senior Micah Sanchez said. “I think the boys played really good the first half of the game, but they played even better the second half of the game.”

Senior Roel Fuentes is the fullback and defensive line for the Wolverines. With his help, the Wolverines ended off their last district game as district champions title, following with the victorious score of 90-42. The Wolverines will be taking on the Spur Bulldogs at the Longhorn stadium in Lockney, Texas, for their bi-district game and their first round in the playoffs.
