On December 3rd the SEHS varsity boys basketball team traveled to Nazareth for their first game of the tournament against the number one team in 2A, Clarendon

“We’ve never played a team like Clarendon,” athletic director Israel Deleon said “I mean they are number one in 2A, they’re very very athletic but I feel we were able to play with them in the third and fourth quarter.”

The second day, December 4th the boys played Gruver, the 12th team in 3A.

“In the Gruver game, we got off to a big lead and had a lot of turn overs, end up losing the lead and losing the game,” I. Deleon explained.

On the third day of the tournament, December 5th the boys played the Lubbock Titans

“Every year that we play them we end up losing but this year it was really cool to turn the tables around,” senior Joshua Samaron said.

Senior Kaden Castillo believes playing against these bigger schools, win or lose, has some good effects on the team.

“I feel like the tournament went alright there’s always things to improve,” Castillo said “This was a really good learning opportunity for us just to see what to work on”’
