The Wolverine JV football team traveled to Happy Thursday night to play the Cowboys. They played a good game but had a few mistakes here and there that caused a tough loss, 16-19.

“Turnovers in the first quarter and bad snaps late in the fourth cost us,” mother/spectator Sarah Weldon said.

Freshman Tyler Tanaro shared what he thought about the game.

“The game on Thursday was tough,” Tanaro said.  “We held them a couple times on defense, but we couldn’t really get our offense working.”

That did not hold sophomore Slade Beerwinkle and Tanaro back though, they kept giving it their all.

“It was a rough game with my son going down twice, once because he went hard at a guy and made too much contact with his helmet,” Weldon said. “And the next, he got the air knocked out of him.”

Beerwinkle was taking hit after hit but it did not stop him.

“I’m a beast.” Beerwinkle said.

The JV has worked this week to prepare for their game against O’Donnell today.

“We just need to work on attacking the ball when we see sweeps on defense, and get our blocks down and run hard on defense,” Tanaro said.
